James O. Wilson was born in Savannah, Georgia on February 23, 1951. James grew up on a farm outside of Savannah, attending and graduating from Bryan County High School in 1969. He attended Georgia Southern College (now Georgia Southern University) for two years before transferring to the University of Georgia where he graduated with a degree in Journalism in 1973. He received his legal education at the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University where he served as a member of the Law Review. He obtained his Juris Doctorate degree in 1976.
James married his high school sweetheart, Marjorie in 1972. After teaching school for over thirty years Marjorie retired and now spends most of her time working with civic organizations. James and Marjorie have two sons, one of whom is a doctor, currently serving as a flight surgeon in the United States Navy.
Mr. Wilson is a member of the Georgia Bar since July 1976 and began his practice of law in Savannah. Early in his practice he handled legal matters ranging from capital murder cases to divorce and everything in between. As his practice evolved he began to focus more and more on representing individuals and families of individuals who had been hurt or killed as a result of someone’s negligence so that by the late 80’s the majority of his practice was devoted to personal injury and wrongful death cases.
